Elvira Nikolaisen - Quiet Exit
Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
How did you pick your Vox name? Does it mean something?

Yep, it does mean something. Renaissant is French for reborn, which is the Latin meaning of my name, Renate.
We've been wanting to build our own house for quite some time now, but it's just so damn hard to find a decent lot to build on, and that won't cost us a lot more than we can afford.
So we initially settled on moving out of the city, but now it seems that whole project has hit a dead end. At least we haven't heard anything for months. We were promised we'd get maps showing all the lots right after summer vacation ended, and well, here we are: October, no maps. I don't know about you, but my summer vacation ended quite some time ago...
So we're getting itchy. Anxious. IMPATIENT. We've now found a suitable lot in the city, which for some reason costs a lot less than all the others, which again is somewhat disturbing (there has to be something wrong with it, don't you think?)... Tor is showing the prospect to his boss tomorrow so that we can get his views on it. If he can't find anything wrong with it, and the bank gives us the ok, we might put in a bid on it. Yikes. Scary.
But still, a house would be awesome. I'm getting increasingly annoyed with our new neighbours. They're loud party people who smoke too much right outside our windows. Also, they didn't clean the hallway when it was their turn last week, and now it's our turn this week, so that's a huge minus for them in my book. NO GOLD STAR FOR YOU, NASTY SMOKERS. Now shut up and start going to bed early like the rest of us decent, hardworking people do.
I would probably do well to live outside the city, with neighbours few and far between.
What TV show(s) will you be watching this season? Why?
Submitted by ducnly.vox.com.
Way too many. Gilmore Girls, Lost, Prison Break, Desperate Housewives and Battlestar Galactica are all 100%. House is also sneaking its way onto my list.
The really nice thing is that out of the 5 shows I definitely plan on watching, 3 of them I'll be watching with Tor. :)
What do you collect?
I collect Harry Potter figurines, but so far I have only one... I also collect My Little Pony(s), and I have quite a few of those. I'd also like to collect snow globes, but that hasn't really kicked off yet.
I also somewhat collect the "Me to You" teddies.
What are your personal memories of September 11th?
I had recently begun studying computer science at NTNU, and I was sitting by the table in the shared kitchen/living room at my dorm, working on my first assignment to be handed in. Two of my friends were there with me, as we were taking the same class we'd decided to work together on this.
The TV was turned off at the point, but suddenly one of the other girls in my hall came running into the room and turned on the TV, and she yelled something about a plane crashing into a tower. This was the first plane. We kept watching, as this was not something you'd be able to take your eyes away from. Then the second plane hit.
I can't really explain how it made me feel. Small and insignificant might be two fitting words, though...
Work took forever to be over. I'll just leave it at that. Busy, busy day, but boring.
I went to the Drama & Poetry lecture at 12:15 to 14:00, and it was...boring. Good thing, however - I'm ahead of schedule, having allready read the essay on versification. However, I must confess, I still haven't read the one on poetic syntax, but that's because my book doesn't have it, so I have to find someone who'll let me photocopy theirs.
Then, after some more work, I went to watch Othello at 17:15. Fitting perfectly in with the Monday that would not end, Othello was the movie that would not end. I dread reading it. Someone, please tell me that A Midsummer Night's Dream is better. Please?
However. Boring as it may be, it WILL be over. I am not going to quit. If I'm lucky, they'll totally forget to include Shakespeare on the final exam. It could happen. Sure it could, sure it could.
It's so cold out today. Autumn has hit full force, no doubt. There were little rivers of water flowing over the roads as I walked home from the bus, and this did NOT agree with my summer shoes. Why? Hint: They are not waterproof. My drenched socks are proof.
So tomorrow, off I go to the city to find new shoes. I tried looking for new ones this weekend, but decided I could bare to wait. Well, that decision doesn't hold any longer. New shoes are now a must. A new jacket might be in order as well, as the ones I wear now aren't warm enough, and the ones that are warm enough are either too wintery or too puffy. I also new need sweaters... My paycheck can't arrive fast enough.
Not that I'm short on money, really, cause if I was, I guess I would've cashed in that check from my former insurance company allready. Hmm...
I just found out today that the class I'm taking on English drama & poetry does NOT involve a term paper! So all I have to do is keep my head up and do my best before and during the exam, then cross my fingers.
I'll be a busy busy girl this semester. I have my full-time job, and my part-time studies. However, my boss asked me to take a class on archiving, offered by the University in Oslo, and of course I had to accept, you don't throw away offers like that. The class is adapted for part-time students, in that most of it is self-study. I have to go to Oslo twice for group teaching, but that's all. There's no final exam either, just one large (?) term paper to be worked with throughout the entire semester.
So, credits-wise, I'm almost a full-time student now, in addition to working full-time. Crazy. A full-time student takes 30 credits in a semester, and I'm taking 25 now, instead of the 15 I was aiming for. I think I can do it though... I think I can, I think I can.
So this is why I'm so glad there's no term paper in the drama & poetry class. ;)
In other news, Othello sucks. Trouble falling asleep? Read Othello. Feel like torturing yourself for hours on end? Read Othello.
I tried reading it now, but...no. I think I'll watch the movie first, THEN read it. I was never made for reading plays.

What a fabulous site! I should really do something like that with my collections! read more
